Turkish diver Cem Karabay – dubbed Aquarium Man – attempts to break the world record for the longest open saltwater scuba dive in Gokceada Island on Monday.

Dozens gathered demonstrate their support to Karabay’s effort to break a record currently held by Norwegian Nils-Roar Selnes who spent 15 hours and 10 minutes underwater in Eidkjosen back in 2016.

Karabay aims to spent 23 hours and 4 minutes underwater inside a two-metre Trojan horse made on the 20th anniversary of Troy (archaeological site located in Hisarlik) being added to UNESCO World Heritage List.

The 46-year-old diver will eat, drink and exercise six metres underwater in a temperature below 15 Celsius degrees (59 Fahrenheit).heit).
